It has been long been common opinion that the moderate consumption of red wine is good for your heart. This is because the alcohol and antioxidants in it are thought to increase the levels of good cholesterol (HDL) and protect the arteries from damage.
The Durif Grape: This grape was developed by a French doctor, Dr. Durif in 1800s. He created this wine, by mutating the breed with another wine grape. The Durif grape is a cross of the Syrah grape, and the Pelourisn grape. When these two wine grape varieties were blended together, they formed a wine that is known as the Petit Sirah, especially in the U. S. It grows well in warmer climates, such as California. The Durif was used for the production of Burgundy wines from the 50s to the 70s when Burgundy wine was popular on the market.
Resveratrol is an antioxidant that is present in wine. This antioxidant is present in higher quantities in red wine than it is in white wine. The reason for this is because the skin is kept on the grape much longer in the preparation and the longer the skin is kept on the grape, the higher the concentration of resveratrol is present.
Pinot Noir: This is a challenging grape for wine production. It grows under very finicky conditions, and it needs warmth in the day, and cool breezes at night. It produces a wine that taste of cherries and strawberries. It goes well with many different food groups.
Sangiovese: This grape is native to northern Italy. It’s used for Chianti. These grapes make for smooth wines that go well with a variety of foods, such as pasta and rich Tuscan fare. These wine grapes are often blended with Cabernet Sauvignon to build upon its flavor.
Not for everyone If you want to start drinking wine for the beneficial properties of the antioxidants, you should be aware that the consumption of alcohol could worsen certain conditions. For example, alcohol can increase the risk of breast cancer by raising estrogen levels in women and increasing tumor progression. Wine can also elevate the levels of triglyceride in the body. This has been linked to weight problems and diabetes. If you already have weight problems or high triglyceride levels, you should not drink red wine. It can also be a problem for those who suffer from migraines. Although white wine contains more sulfites, red wine tends to aggravate migraine sufferers much more.
The red wine characteristics in this wine tasting guide are a good place to start when looking for the fragrance and taste. There are many aromas that were not mentioned, but this will get you started with most wines. Whatever you smell or taste in the wine is your perception. Different people pick up different characteristics so there is know right or wrong.
